"Like plotbunny, I thought the guy was dead after Broyles was able to show him the error of his ways,
"
Thanks for your support...I think you are right about him being dead from Broyles' gun shot but only for some (perhaps rather short) period of time and then the organism brought him back. In that earlier scene, Koslov shocked him to death (the flat line) and he (magically) came back to life. I think that's a clever solution to why he didn't die from all that X-ray radiation over the course of six years, the organism wouldn't allow him to give up the ghost (or shadow in this case.)

The reason I love this show is because of how much it reminds me of the X Files. This episode was something the X Files went to time and again (especially as the seasons stretched on) was have a 'Skinner' episode. This was Fringe's first Skinner episode, just with Broyles is all. We even got back to 'someone has an advocate in Congress' (see Mulder in especially the first 2 seasons) and we gave Broyles a Deep Throat. Maybe I should re-phrase that. We gave him an X. I think we will see him back in that role giving out maybe a touch more than he should to the Fringe folks while trying to get them to back off and be quiet. Even the scene where he shows up is framed and lit in a perfect X-Files manner.
Important episode in that we learn that there still are folks in the government that rate higher than FBI and even Homeland Security...this remind you of anything?
The most X Files part of the whole night though was the teaser for the next show. I was shouting and laughing even as it first ran live (even though I was watching DVR.) All's I am saying watch the commercial for next week and then watch the promo for the X Files 'Pusher' episode. It's uncanny, shot for shot almost, how close they are.

And no, this is NOT meant as criticism...it's very much a compliment coming from me.

I know that there might be similarities to X Files and I love it that Homage was duly paid in one episode. I loved X Files., but for every similarity there are differences. Fringe is not plagarism, anymore than Donovan plagarized Dylan, or The Stones, The Beatles.
I love them both very much for their own sake and don't feel it's necessary to spend much time comparing how much alike they are.
When you raise siblings you raise them to be the individuals they are naturally, and not be constantly comparing one with the other. That, soon can invalidate each of them.

Not trying to invalidate anything, just pointing it out. The creators themselves have said that they welcome any and all comparisons to X Files. I am glad to see that they are able to make Skinner episodes already. The comparisons of this weeks episode to Pusher are going to be unavoidable, it's clearly an homage and their take on the idea, much like the parasite hitching a ride on an astronaut is a staple plot since the 50's. I enjoy watching the Fringe team's takes on classical tales. X Files' first two season especially were their takes on previous works (like John Carpenter's The Thing especially) so all I am saying is that I am liking the arc it's taking.
