Episode 2.06 Earthling - After Show Chatter

**SYNOPSIS**Fringe Division takes on a puzzling investigation of victims who inexplicably disintegrate into ash. The shadowy case casts light on Special Agent Phillip Broyles’ (Lance Reddick) past and leads the team to the possibility of foreign fringe science.Emotions run high as the alarming events stack up and revealing personal details emerge about the leader of the Fringe Division. I spotted The Observer (Baldo). He was walking out of Gate 43 in the Washington Airport where Broyles is waiting for his flight back to Boston (after his park bench meeting with the senator). Broyles was talking to Olivia over the phone outside Gate 44-45 and our friend, Baldo, simply walk out of Gate 43 in the background.

And the glyph code (at each commercial break) spelt out the word "DEJA VU" - corresponding to Broyle's having dealt with this case after it last appeared 4 years ago (which led to his wife divorcing him.) Deja Vu for Broyles.

Does this episode reminds you of the movie THE ASTRONAUT WIFE (by Johnny Depp & Charlize Theron)? Depp was the astronaut whose body was taken over by an alien who wanted to procreate with human beings.I thought TPTB once mentioned that they are not going the outspace alien route? Nice to find out more about Broyles' past. Interesting episode. The shadow was creepy; I'd like to have learned more about it.Small quibbles with season 2: 1) Bring back the Federal Building sets! Olivia and Broyles need their offices. It's just not right that they always have to meet on park benches now. I miss Olivia's apartment as well, but I guess something had to go with the episodes being cut back to 43 minutes, and between the two, I'll vote for the Federal Building. 2) What is with Olivia's hair? I'm not liking that brushed back bun hairstyle. 1 out of 3 found this valuable. Do you? |

Seems like they (the producers) are folding to some pressure to make stand alone episodes as none of this one had anything to do with; the pattern, ZFT, Massive Dynamic, the Observer bunch and the General who had been tracking them or people from the other dimension, or any of the usual Fringe-y stuff.It was ok, but no aha moments, or scare the pants off me stuff. Turning people to dust? Is this getting Biblical again? As a stand along episode it was ok, Broyles part was expanded and gave you some background and how far he will go for the Fringe division. but didn't keep me glued to my seat as much as other episodes. 0 out of 2 found this valuable. ONce he started to breath again... they blasted him off into space??"Not sure what to make out of this either. 2 other things on my mind: - Why did the shadow take a four years break from stealing people's radiation ? Reminds me of season one's "Same old story", where Olivia was confronted with an old case (a killer had stop killing and began doing it again...). - How did the russian intelligence come up with the formula ? Or was it Tomas Koslov who got it by analysing his brother's condition ? Not a great episode, but it gave us some perspective on Broyles. Hey, he even started playing with a kid in a restaurant. Broyles is finally human, Yippy ! Do you find this valuable? |

Help! I had to go to my daughter's choir concert last night and TiVo missed FRINGE because the damn Yankees were still on the schedule. ( oh...How I hate them!) This is my first missed FRINGE episode. I only have the most basic cable from Time Warner. Is there somewhere on the net that I can go to catch up?

"Not sure what to make out of this either.Some of the same questions I had, too, Chris! Not a great episode, not bad - different, very slow I found sometimes, and desperately missing some kind of humour. I know they were going with how sad Broyles was, but you'd think after 4 years he'd feel some happiness again. I hated Peter stuck in the back scenes for most of it too. But, I liked the shadow, the creepy effects with the ash, and love the last scene with the little girl looking into that dark closet . I think i was holding my hands to my face and actually whispering 'please don't let her be dead, please don't let her be dead." so whew when she wasn't! I have a thing about open doors on closets, if you can't guess! Didn't Walter seem a bit tense in this episode? On edge? Do you find this valuable? |

This episode was okay...but it was lacking BIG TIME!! I mean, come on, people. Where was Nina? What about Walter's humor? And Peter in the background? Where is the FBI building? Olivia's apartment?All I can say is this: you could technically NOT watch the first season and you would be fine with just picking it up in the second season. In fact, watching this season has made me wish I had not watched the first one. I expect so much more than what they are giving me... Do you find this valuable? |
