definitely; i think walter and the mysterious mr. bell worked together on the creating the pattern, but it greww out of control on its own and walter saw this and reacted by causing the explosion in his lab (was it at harvard) in the hopes of stopping or at least slowing down the patterns progression. this also had some effect on walter causing the memory loss disconnection

I agree he did create it. All in order to show the dangers of technology when done in order to gain profit or widen someones power.

my guess is that there are 2 "walters", each from different realities, both existing in the same reality. The walter from the current timeline wrote the manifesto and is a leader in the ZFT. The Walter that we are seeing is from the same time line as the observer and so he does not remember writing the manifesto.
