My guess is he turned "hulk." At least from the second fringe comic seems to alude to this fact.

"What the heck happened there? Has he mutated?"i'm thinking self transportation, perhaps inter demensionally. Do you find this valuable? |

When he teleported the first time remember the huge black stain on the wall of his cell afterwards. His cell walls were more likely thicker and could withstand the energy it took to teleport. The hospital walls most likely could not so it tore a huge hole in them. I think the side effects maybe cause you to start randomly teleporting through time/space/dimensions. By the way, where are these Fringe comics?

I'm thinking that from walter and Astride's conversation that the effects of the first teleportation somehow altered Mr Jones and left him with the ability to do that, perhaps he has some kind of telekensis......

When Astrid says to Walter that the end result of the transportation device was death. Walter says it is not death, but something unspeakable. That's the question that we have to find out. I don't think there are any doubts that Walter either wrote or had a hand in writing the manifesto either.

hulking seems highly unlikely since it has absolutely nothing to do with any of the evidence of Davie Jones' condition. I imagine it has something to do with his polyphase electric field. You know, like the man from Power Hungry

It seems to me that he mutated into some sort of creature, being able to teleport at will like some people are alluding to doesn't seem "worse than death" to me.

"It seems to me that he mutated into some sort of creature, being able to teleport at will like some people are alluding to doesn't seem "worse than death" to me."there's obviously something we don't know about the whole thing going on. I imagine, much like Mr. Meagar from Power Hungry, he can't consciously control it the way he'd like to. Perhaps his body will slowly irradiate itself to death, like those guys who were stealing stuff from the bank vault, and they had to take their "shots" before they started it up. Like all of Walters inventions, none of this crap seems user friendly. Do you find this valuable? |

Just had a thought on that.....In the Manifesto "ZFT" that we suspect Walter may have written, there were declarations that alternate dimensional worlds exist and are populated. Perhaps the teleporter causes some kind of dual-existence, or between-worlds-existence. something harmful to the human mind and body? Another idea that hit me just now: What if they fixed the original problem? and Jones' symptoms were only temporary? Whatever he has now could be caused by the "people" Mr. Jones "works for" tampering with the device. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

Remember mater is mostly space? The machine altered this with the medication they were takin to go through stuff. What if after a # of treatments they didn't need the machine.Hence being part here part there cells atoms resonated in a way to allow people so treated with meds and machine a number of times previously to slip through and operate in that capacity at will. The hole was theater. It would be less effectve if he slipped thru it the wall remaining unafected. It would have been corny or derrivitive of some superhero. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Walter says that the conciquenses are "worse than death." i think ths is that conciquense. as Peter said in the eppisode where thry steal the equipment, "You defied natural law, and mother natures a bitch" or something like that.

"Walter says that the conciquenses are "worse than death." i think ths is that conciquense. as Peter said in the eppisode where thry steal the equipment, "You defied natural law, and mother natures a bitch" or something like that."it is entirely possible that missing-wall-ness was simply the ZFT crew's way of getting Davie Jones back. That does not explain the message burnt into the mirror, however. Do you find this valuable? |

I think we are overlooking a simple answer, as zippo mentioned. He didn't ripout the wall, someone came to get him...... There is alot of debris inside the room, perhaps indicating the damage came from the outside. They already got him out of a prison, a hospital would be easier, and leaving the hole makes people wonder the same question we are... did he do that, I don't want to catch someone that can do that..... (Or I know I'd be thinking that... ;)Jones left the message for Olivia, knowing she'd come to the room. She had to go talk to him... he knows that. Do you find this valuable? |

Theory Time again:As I recall, Walter stated the effects of teleportation don't "kill you, it's far worse." Given Jones's condition prior to the end of season 1, that is wrapped in bandages and appearantly degenerating, I would theorize the effect of teleportation to be a physical degeneration, perhaps breaking down at the molecular level, until nothing is left but a blob of goo. It is also likely that another side-effect is random energy discharge, left over from the teleportation itself. That sort of discharge would explain the hole in the hospital wall, the charred message and might have a link to that same molecular degeneration mentioned above. Certainly I'd think breaking down into one's chemical makeup, slowly, would certainly be worse than simple death. Of course, it would have been far more amusing to find out that the ultimate effect of being teleported is that you are eventually, if not rather painfully, returned to the place from which you were teleported - thus landing Jones, just as unexplainably as he disappeared, back in the same German prison.
