The "gentlemen" - a newborn baby?
Nov 18 2008, 12:05 PM EST | Post edited: Nov 18 2008, 12:05 PM EST
Inspired by another thread (and Genethecow avatar), remember when Broyles realized there was a seven pound discrepancy in the cargo that Loeb was tracking? What if the missing 7 pounds is "the gentlemen"? This was not my idea, but another members. But it got me thinking, when Broyles asks "What weighs seven pounds?" it's almost like he's asking us the question. This seven pound discrepancy is what Loeb was looking for, and what Mr. Jones wants to know the location of. So what weighs seven pounds?

*a human head weighs about 8 pounds (according to Jerry McGuire :) where as the human brain weighs only about 3 pounds
*a newborn weighs around 6-9 pounds on average

My guess is the gentlemen was a newborn who rapidly grew to adulthood (Fringe style). Either that or it is the head of someone (perhaps William Bell's head)? The head idea is a bit too horror genre rather than sci-fi I think for this show though. Another thought is it's a baby animal (or small animal) that houses the conciousness of "the gentlemen". Perhaps a young panda bear? I'm serious!

Anyway, just thoughts ...

Just the head would so Futurama-esque !
But you have something with the 7 pounds baby.

Fascinating! This would be consistent with the super-soldier program from the earlier episode.

I actually thought that the parasite was the 7 pounds that was missing. Possibly more parasites out there?

I thought at first the 7 pounds was the parasite as well. But considering the human heart is about the size of your fist (and weighs about 13 ounces), that parasite would have to have been made of solid cast-iron to even come close to 7 pounds for it's size. So considering it was organic, it probably weighed less than a pound.

I did have a thought though. What if Little Hill is referring to a pregnant stomach (since it makes a "little hill")? Forget the idea that the 7 pounds was a baby. Just taking the information by itself that the gentlemen lives at Little Hill, what if this is referring to a newborn being carried in the womb? What if it's Olivia and John's baby or something? Too far fetched?

Okay, I know I am posting a lot on my own thread, but I am excited about this idea.

What if Little Hill refers not so much to a human womb, but an animals womb? Didn't someone say in another thread Little Hill, Penn (or somewhere) had a huge cattle farm or something? What if a cow is pregnant with a human baby which will be the "gentlemen"? Remember in the comic book the herd of cattle that was found dead but full of human organs? What if Fringe has found a way to produce humans in other animals?

What if the Observer was born from another animal?

I know I'm "ranting" ..... this show makes me think !

"The gentleman" is from the question Mr. Jones asked olivia to ask the dead guy to save Loeb, who had a parasite wrapped arround his heart. I've been thinking that it was a code word, not a person, for where the teleportation device was to take Jones, "Little Hill".

I remember Walter mentioned for the teleportation device to work, the two points have to match in coordinates. Olivia confirmed that little hill is the airfield where Loeb and gangs are going to be, unfortunately she was abducted on her way there.
