The Secret Society

Between all of this bickering and negativity I almost forgot to post about one of the second episodes most amazing scenes... Broyles, Nina, and a bunch of other suits sitting around some secret order-ish board room. Did anyone remember the name on the wall behind Broyles and perhaps do any Google searching? I'm positively sure there's going to be a real-world tie in here. 3  out of 4 found this valuable. Do you?

On the emblem behind Broyles in the meeting room is the number 7 in red and the words "Pro Patria Gloria Et". A quick google search revealed that this phrase means "For Country and Glory". It was on the emblem of the 107th Infantry during World War I. There is a statue depicting '7' soldiers and is dedicated to their memory on near Fifth avenue and E. 66th street in Manhattan facing Central Park. There were known as ORyan's Roughnecks and were a part of the 27th NY Division. Also related to the 7th regiment of New York.

So this all makes sense that the Emblem has the number 7 on it, 107th infantry, 7 soldiers on the statue, 27th NY Division, 7th Regiment. Lots of 7s.

No Idea how this relates to Broyles, Nina, and the others in the room. Only thing I noticed was that 7 people are seated at the table Broyles is addressing, with Nina included. Other members in the room are seated away from the table.

7... 7... 7... 7...

Possible. A lot of the work Dr. Bishop was doing for the government seemed to stem from military needs or ideas, like the cultivating soldiers. Definitely could be an old war relic society or a tribute to something like it. 2  out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?

...defense, department of defense, and even private armies are mentioned throughout the episode

Did anybody notice the asian guy with white-ish hair who was also in on the meeting - but by video phone or something like that?
I was wondering what was up with that... he kinda looked like an older Pierre Chang. I know... I know.. this is Fringe... not LOST but I just wonder if anyone has a good screen cap of that. (you see him at one point when Nina is talking - behind her)

Hey I just wanted to let you guys know i happen to be in what is left of the 7th Regiment Armory. We are on 66th and park in New York City. Unfortunately there is no grand scheme as to the 7's. The military in all its wonder likes to maintain a bit of history and lineage. When the original unit was formed it was named the 7th Regiment just happend to be the next number in the line. Later on it was reorganized and renamed the 27th. No this is where you get the reoccurence of the 7's. In order for a military unit to maintain the honors and lineage of its predisessor it must have a portion of its name to continue on the line. So when the 27th was made it had to have a 7 in it, and so on and so on untill my current unit the 53rd ALT. We just officially took over the 7th Regiments lineage so we are about to be renamed to something with a 7 in it. Probably around the time we get back from our current deployment. If you are interested in the 7th Regiment you should check out the 7th Regiment Armory Conservancy website it has alot of the history and storys behind the 7th Regiment. Do you find this valuable?
