"I think I meant with the last statement about the theory of different decisions not holding true, is that it hasn't been explained if an alternate self of ours (or Walter's or Olivia's) chooses a different option, but the rest of their choices are the same, are they necessarily on a different path? would they have a slight detour and then the paths look the same? Or does it branch away completely even though everything else is the same? I know I'm probably over-analyzing this too much! It just means I am fascinated by this theory of deja vu and alternate selves, and I want to see how it works. I expect that as Fringe goes further on we will get some more answers about deja vu and alternate selves and worlds.Maybe I should reword the last sentence to ask if it's possible to make decisions differently but end up doing the same thing, like alt-Olivia and alt -Charlie are doing!! So: given that alt-Olivia and alt-Charlie are in the FBI as our world characters are, how does the different choices theory of deja vu fit in with the alternate world being slightly technologically ahead of our own? Do they fit? Are we talking about different realities here?

When I said all decisions affect the future so it can't end up the same, I was speaking of a popular theory held by some physicists. and of these,for a few with an agenda,their theories are set in stone. Bad science. No discipline or objectivity.
Fringe is fiction, not required to meet scientific standards,only needing to be believable. Either theory can apply.
As i said,we need to allow the writers poetic license. Also, to repeat what I said somewhere. In Fringe all things are possible.Thankfully.

but we are assuming that peter is bad or was bad. everything we have seen appears that he is a good natured person. there have been referances to his past being in shady deals with shady people and doing small things such as taking the apple. we dont know alot about his past so it may be a possibility that he was working for an organization (undercover, secret service type) that dealt with shady people and shady dealings and not a freelancing bad person just doing his own thing for money. the apple may be a hint or another referance to the apple shown as the show goes to commercials were the cross section of the apple shows the seeds as being fetuses which brings possibly the two of everything theory, doesnt explain why he took it but things such as this come to light on occassion, the taking of the apple, beating up the boyfriend, and knowing "a guy" when he needs something. peter obviously has alot more training and knows alot of people that know how to get things done to be just a all for yourself conman. he had to be working for somebody. also for all we know the apple could be another referance to the saying of " the apple doesnt fall far from the tree"!

I WAS IN A HURRY DURING MY LAST FEW REPLIES. SO TO CLEAR THINGS UP I WILL LOOSELY QUOTE THE SHOW. IT WAS SAID FOR SURE THAT THE IDEA OF CORTEXIPHAN WAS TO ALLOW THE MIND TO DEVELOP TO ITS FULL POTENTIAL.WELTER SAID THE IDEA WAS THAT ALL CHILDREN HUMANKIND FOR THAT MATTER IS CAPABLE OF LIMITLESS POTENTIAL WHEN THEY ARE BORN BUT BECAUSE OF THE COURSE OF LIFE AS WE KNOW IT AND SOCIETY AND ALL ITS BELIEFS AND BOUNDARIES THIS LIMITLESS POTENTIAL IS LOST VERY EARLY ON. MEANING ALT-WORLD OR HERE YOU AND ME WE ALL HAD A SPECIAL ABILITY OR ABILITIES THAT WHERE POSSIBLE BUT WAS LOST DURING THE EARLY STAGES OR YEARS OF OUR LIVES. SO YOUNG SUBJECTS WERE NEEDED PREFERABLY INFANTS TO TODDLERS. THE PURPOSE OF CORTEXIPHAN WAS TO STOP THAT FROM HAPPENING AND YOUR KEY ATTRIBUTE CAN MANIFEST, WE ARE CAPABLE OF HAVING MULTIPLE ABILITIES EXCEPT CORTEXIPHAN ALTHOUGH IT WORKED IN SOME CASES IT WAS NEVER PERFECTED AND BECAUSE %99.99 OF US IN HUMAN HISTORY NEVER GOT TO THAT POINT OUR BODIES AND MINDS NEVER EVOLVED TO WITHSTAND OR UNDERSTAND THOSE ABILITIES. THIS THEORY HAS LONG BEEN THOUGHT OF AND IS NOTHING NEW. AND IM NOT SURE WHAT I SAID TO BRING CONFUSION BUT I KNEW FROM LIKE THE FIRST FEW EPISODES THAT PETER IS DEAD AND ALT-PETER IS WHO WE ARE LOOKING AT. I KNEW HE WAS ALT-PETER PROBABLY BEFORE MOST OF THE WORLD DID. AND WHAT I MEANT BY GIVEN NOT INHERITED WAS THAT WITHOUT CORTEXIPHAN MOST IF NOT ALL SUBJECTS WOULD HAVE BEEN COMPLETELY UNAWARE OF THEIR CAPABILITIES. OR THAT THEY WOULD NOT HAVE MANIFESTED TO THAT DEGREE. WE ALL INHERIT SOME SORT OF ABILITIES FROM OUR PARENTS. LIKE WE INHERIT MOST OF MOMS IMMUNITIES THROUGH HER BREAST MILK. OR SO I READ SOMEWHERE.

Do a little research on this forum. This hypothesis has been proposed and discussed before. I even think the writers had an interview where they were talking about it at th beginning if the season.

And of course, the only valid answer right now is: maybe...
