UNANSWERED QUESTIONS AND PLOT DANGLERS
  • All the phenomena described in this issue remain as unsolved mysteries.
  • "The Taylor Incident," which deals with a birth that went horribly wrong, will be described in detail later that afternoon "from a neonatal perspective."

MEMORABLE QUOTES
  • "If we could all take our seats please, we'll begin the afternoon session." - Dr. Cory (these words open the issue and therefore the comic book series)
  • "The odds of a random coincidence are so infinitesimal as to be non-existant." - Professor Ku
  • "The Pattern is not an urban myth, ladies and gentlemen. It is not idle speculation. It is not a hoax. It is the reality we face. And it is only just beginning." - Professor Ku

ISSUE TRIVIA
  • Originally distributed as a freebie at San Diego Comic-Con 2008, where the Fringe cast and writers gave a panel presentation, and a rough cut of the pilot was previewed.
  • Contains full-page photos of the TV series' main characters, along with vital information for each.
  • The inside front cover contains an ad (specifically a Billboard rental ad) for Massive Dynamic, with the slogan: "What do we do? What don't we do." This is the same Billboard ad seen in Episode 1.01 (32:26).
  • Although a teaser states that the series will be "continued on August 27th (2008) in Fringe #1," Issue #1 was actually released on September 3.

TheMarkedMouse The Taylor Incident... any ideas? 5 Oct 28 2008, 9:53 PM EDT by MDinmypants

The Taylor Incident is depicted in the comics as a birth that goes horribly wrong. It's unclear if Taylor is the name of the mohter or of the baby (or both, if it's their last name).

Well, everything seems fine and happy up until the point when the doctor hands the mother the baby, and then you see the text: ""WHRRCHK! TZZZZZTT!!" as the mother has a look of agony on her face.

But we can't really tell what's actually going on. Could it be:

o the mother is electrocuted when she touches the baby...
o the mother is horrified when she has a look at the baby...
o it's not a baby at all, but some other animal...

how about you, any theories?
