As for why he looks like he doesn't age... You all seem to assume that he is continuing along the timeline just as we are. If he were not, if he just jumped from event to event, then to us it would appear that he stayed the same age because he is. He only sticks around for a few mintues, hours to observe the event then ZAP...onto the next one, ZAP on to the next, ZAP...and so on. To him only a few days or weeks may have passed though to us it would seem to be decades.

"That phrase, regarding "the widow's son", is used by members of Masonic Order, as a desparte plea for assistance from fellow Masons. If I recall correctly, the actual phrase is: "Oh Lord, Oh God, who will help the widow's son?". This is recognized by other Masons as a most dire plea for aid, much like flying the American flag upsidedown is recognized as a most dire cry for help (done flawlessly in the film Red Dawn).
The Masonic Order has long been linked (largely by non-Masons) to virtually every consipiracy theory ever circulated, since the founding of their order. Sadly to say, they are, in fact, little more than a Men's Club who use a handful of odd phrases, and curious "handshakes" to denote themselves to one another. As for some greater goal or hidden adgenda, the Masons are involved in little more than some exceptional charity work, and putting on circuses for children - despite what The Da Vinci Code and countless conspiracy theorists might want the world to believe.
As for mis-spellings in Walter's notes...
If anyone actually knows anyone who does possess Genius-level IQ's can attest that these people, for all their intelligence, often have other shortcomings, such as poor social skills, or yes, even the inability to spell.
Consider Albert Einstein - he would often be found by police, near his home, spouting off all manner of obscenities because he was utterly frustrated by the fact that he had walked out of his home, perhaps to the corner store for some item he could not recall when he got there, and then discovered that he had no idea where he was, despite being less than a block from his home." Regarding your last paragraph about Einstein, I'm now 64,like the Beatles sang about, and I can sure relate.

"What about the idea that it was Olivia's uncle that subjected her the tests?
Remember in the pilot episode, during her dream sequence, she sees the kayak with the green, green, red dots, the alpha sumbol and the word Zeno in it. She said it was her uncle's kayak. Zeno is somehow connected to ZFT...we see that on the computer monitor in Episode 9 and again in another episode (which I can't remember). Alpha was Esterbrook's lapel pin in Episode 6, and the green and red dots were from Episode 8.
That suggests that Olivia's uncle was working with one or more of these apparent bad guys we have met during the course of the season. Maybe Olivia's family didn't even know she was being experimented on. Just a theory. " Well I need to rewatch for this! Totally missed this clue/sequence. Do you think Olivia's family was more involved in the experiments than has been told? What happpened to Olivia's father anyway? did her parents divorce? Is Rachel her full sister or half-sister? They don't really say. In answer to the thread question, no I don't think Rachel was experimented on. The experiments ran from 1981-83, and while we don't know how old Rachel is, I think she is a few years younger than Olivia. they didn't take babies in the experiments, but 3 year olds.....though I have to check out what the ages were, certainly they had to be old enough to talk. Cortexiphan on a baby gives me the creeps. Bad enough it was on toddlers!!

We know there are supposed to be an infinate number of universes. We also know that if 2 universes "collide" only one will be left standing. What if the Observer(s) come from a universe where this has already happened? Having already seen the pattern play itself out, they would know what to look for to be where ever these events occure.
An even scarier possiblity is that the observers themselves started this whole mess and are takeing notes as a sort of science project to see what happens when two realities collide.
