We've thought a lot about the mysterious bald-headed Observer in Fringe (particularly this week), and then again, we haven't. Sure, we're all discussing who The Observer really is and what his role in the two universes might be, but have you thought much about who The Observer is in our real-life universe?
Good thing for us, USA Today did exactly that and now we know a little bit more about Michael Cerveris who plays Fringe's soldier from the alternate universe. In fact, Cerveris says that when he was first cast for the role, he only knew that he was a guest star on the show. He didn't know that he'd become a significant part of the story until much later.
According to executive producer, Jeff Pinkner, "He's more specifically connected with the overall character mythology of the show than we ever expected."
In an exclusive interview with a very giggly, un-Olivia-like Anna Torv, BuddyTV gathers Anna's insights on Olivia's relationship with Walter, a more emotional Season 2 Agent Dunham, and Peter's relationship with Olivia's sister. (So it seems a fling with her sis would be enough to nix a guy for Anna, but watch and see what she thinks about Olivia!)
Sneak a peek at this week's Observer on EW exclusive vid
11/17/09
The wave of excitement continues to build -- The Observer is everywhere, just ask bugaboo628, who spotted an in depth (aka **SPOILER**) video on The Ausiello Files.
Take a peek (if you dare) or hang tight and don't **spoil** the fun.
We know The Observer is going to do more than observe on this week's Fringe, and in honor of Fringe's most mysterious character, FOX is unleashing a viral promotional spree right on point!
During "Observer Week," you'll find these bald-headed, well dressed men in live Fox telecasts and also in other Fox shows and openers, such as "So You Think You Can Dance." You'll likely even spot an observer or two passing out Tabasco sauce in and about some major metropolitan areas, including Los Angeles, Atlanta, New York, Boston and Chicago, reports Variety.
So as another "Easter Egg" hunt is in full swing, so Fringe fan boys, please report in if you observe The Observer!
Though Of Human Action was an episode worthy of water cooler gab, as we learned more about Massive Dynamic and their so-called research, the thing that got me the most excited about the episode was clearly the preview for next week's episode, August.
In case you missed it the preview, you can check out the trailer below -- please observe that the Observer does more than observe. August may very well be an episode of the same insightful caliber as Momentum Deferred.
As we all know, bad schedules can kill good shows, and though DVR viewing can help, sometimes it just ain't enough. Clearly, Thursday nights (one of the most fierce television time slots around) aren't doing Fringe any good, and moreover, the recently inconsistent programming schedule due to the World Series did a doozy on the Earthling ratings as well, but the two combined left Fringe at an all-time low in the Nielsen ratings.
The LA Times doesn't beat around the bush with the article, "Five Things that could Help Fringe". Read the full list and tell us if you agree -- is this what's needed to keep Fringe in our universe?
# 5 - Stop beating around the bush. We want more of the story finally revealed in Momentum Deferred. #4 - Crack out the "Lost" DVD and add more "deep character development." #3 - Stop killing your bad guys so fast. #2 - Pick up your loose ends. (Or is this supposed to elicit an image of "fringe" in the literal sense?) #1 - Move back to Tuesday. Exclamation mark.
The storm is coming, perhaps the last and worst storm is coming, and when it is over, I fear there will be little left of our world.
Producers Jeff Pinkner and J. Wyman discuss the secrets behind Momentum Deferred, the monumental episode where William Bell explains "the first wave" and the "last and worst storm.
Watch the video and listen to how the Fringe masters explain:
Did your watchful eye observe the bountiful Easter Eggs in Earthling?
Timestamp: 03:40 --- We see some type of decorative decor. The emblem it is projecting is that of the Zodiac sign "Taurus."
Timestamp: 21:59 --- As SAC Broyles is reading through the Top Secret document supplied by his friend, we see the date "28 April 2003."
The Zodiac sign Taurus begins on April 20th but does not reach the peak of it's power until April 28th. Coincidence? That's up to the viewer to decide, however there are so many coincidences on this show, who knows...
Also, here is the news story about a Russian space mission that took place on April 28th, 2003.
I had to read it twice myself to believe it, but two seriously alternate universes are set to collide this week when the usual paranormal Fringe "Easter Eggs" will instead be references to The Simpsons.
Fringe isn't alone in this unusual mash-up though. In a 20th anniversary celebration of The Simpsons, FOX is putting together a scavenger hunt together that will feature snippets of The Simpsons on other hit FOX shows, including Fringe. We should expect to see "references that wouldn't be too obscure, though still fun to spot."
According to the TV Business report Fringe had a ratings loss after the two-week baseball hiatus, but their ratings were still up over last year's Fall ratings.
"FRINGE also returned after a two week hiatus to post a 1.7/4 among Adults 18-49 and so far this season shows substantial gains compared to FOX’s regular programming in the time period last Fall, increasing +21% among Adults 18-49 and +40% in Total Viewers. "
I'm not quite sure the meaning of all of this, save for it's the end result of a Fringe/Twillight superfan with lots of time on their hands. But it is extremely well edited and puts a new twist on two completely different franchises. You have to give them kudos for linking these two series together at least in imagery! What do YOU think?
Fringe goes deep with Agent Broyles on "Earthling"
11/5/09
Last night's World Series victory for the Yankee's is also a great sign for Fringe fans -- Earthling returns tonight, and we should expect to dig deep into the mysterious life of Agent Phillip Broyles and learn more about his relationship with Massive Dynamic mogul, Nina Sharp.
The Show Patrol caught up with Lance Reddick for a pre-Earthling interview and Reddick revealed that tonight, we're going to meet the ex-Mrs. Broyles and much more about "why he does what he does," according to Reddick.
Also, when asked if Reddick thought there might be an alternate universe Agent Broyles out there, Reddick tells us:
That will be tricky. I don't know. That will be tricky, but it's entirely possible. I mean, if we're dealing with parallel universes and we've already seen glimpses of other Charlies in déjà vu moments in episode, I think it was 116. So, the truth is, I don't know and I think it will be tough to avoid it the more involved with get in it.
Other interesting trivia -- Reddick apparently read for the part of Charlie, but was cast as Agent Broyles instead. For more nitty gritty on Lance Reddick and Fringe Division big wig, Agent Broyles, you can read the full interview here.
While Thursday night's TV schedule is still tentative based on the World Series, we've got a sneak peak at Earthling right here! Get a glimpse of some great episode photos to see what's in store for us on Fringe.
Great news for Fringe and Fringe fans alike, as today's news confirms what many of already know -- Fringe is quality TV!
The nominees for the Sixth Annual TV DVD Awards, sponsored by Home Media Magazine, Agent DVD Magazine and TVShowsonDVD.com have been announced and Fringe Season1 appears in three categories, including Best Current Series, Best Extras, and Best TV Blu-ray!
Voting is now open to the public, so get those fingers poised and vote for Fringe right here on the Agent DVD site. Voting is open through November 20th.

(So it seems a fling with her sis would be enough to nix a guy for Anna, but watch and see what she thinks about Olivia!)
Very nice interview. Torv stumbled a bit at the end, but she made up for it when talking about Cortexiphan. She seems frustrated (just like the fans!) with the fact that the experiments surrounding Olivia and the whole ZFT/war-with-the-Other-Side has seemingly been put on the back burner for the first half of season 2. Her view of Olivia was very insightful as well.

ooooo intense! i hope people find him! i wish i had time to look for him... maybe he was at the patriots/colts game rooting for the pats! too bad it didn't bring them any luck. post somewhere when you find him people!
EDIT: found something! on the main site, when i went to the page where you can choose an episode to watch [http://www.fox.com/fod/play.php?sh=fringe], a extra/other clip to watch, etc, i found something cool. i clicked on the newest one under the Observer section (entitled Follow the Pattern: the Observer or something like that) and an interesting add came up on the side of the screen. it's for August airing on thursday, but if you scroll over it, the Observer's face comes up on your computer screen for a moment! it's a faint moving image, but still cool. also, when you first go to the main page [www.fox.com/fringe], the clip that is the preview for August shown has the Observer's head moving in it!
