UNANSWERED QUESTIONS & PLOT DANGLERS

  • Did Walter test Cortexiphan on Olivia?

  • Why can Peter calm Olivia when she is under the REM Stimulator?

  • Who is the woman with Walter and William Bell in the old video? Could it be Nina Sharp?

  • Is the fire in the old video related to the fire when Walter's lab assistant was killed?

  • How come Olivia suddenly starts to feel Nick? What triggers this? (remember Nick checked out of the mental hospital 4 months ago, this could not have been happening to Olivia for 4 months?)

  • How many other "sleeper soldiers" are out there?

  • Who went to St. Jude to activate Nick Lane? (Guy with glasses who falsified his identity as an attorney) Can Olivia be "awoken" by the same words?

  • Was Mouse Willis cleared of the murder charge? If so... how?
PLOT HOLES, INCONSISTENCIES OR JUST PLAIN IMPOSSIBLE?
Add unbelievable incidents or sci-fi faux pas to this list!

EPISODE'S BEST QUOTES

  • "I thought you might have teleported to New York in your sleep and killed her. Wouldn't that have been wondrous?" - Walter

  • "She had a bad dream."
"No, I could smell the platform. I saw her baby staring at me. I saw her face before I saw the news. How is that possible?"
    "Opium?" - Peter, Olivia, Walter

  • "What is mankind's oldest dream?"
    "World peace?"
"Oh, hardly. It's a social construct imposed by an awareness of our own mortality."
"Should have gone with "great taste, less filling." - Walter, Astrid

  • "You know, until this year I'd never actually been to a mental hospital."
"Learn to like new things." - Peter, Olivia

  • "Where's the fire? I always loved that expression, which is curious, since my lab assistant was killed in a fire." - Walter

  • "I've always wanted a two-headed goat. Where can I get a subscription?" - Walter

  • "What is the greatest desire of the weak and the subjugated? Of the man whose fire is stolen by an opponent whose only advantage is the luck of superior size?"
    "We're stealing fire?"
"I think we're cavemen in this story."
"Whose woman is wrenched away by brutality and force."
"Sexist cavemen at that." - Walter, Astrid, Peter
  • Charlie " Suspects last known address is St Jude's Mental Hospital" Bishop: " Well, I'm not going there"
OMG! MOMENTS
  • Walter's video of little Olive!

  • Olivia realized she was linked to Nick by Cortexiphan!

  • The 'Kiss' !

  • In the video of little Olive there clearly is a burnt bed and voiceover of Walter trying to comfort her... "...it's not your fault... you didn't mean to..."
EPISODE TRIVIA

  • The Observer can be seen walking past an ambulance at the building where people are "infected" by Nick's emotion to jump off the roof.

  • The code word for this episode is BELLY.

  • The clue from the proceeding episode is a label saying "Red Balloon Lager" on a beer keg outside of Carl's house at MIT.

  • Walter is singing "Corner of the Sky" from the musical Pippin. As Astrid notes, the Jackson Five did a remix of the song. In "The Two Towers," John Noble played Denethor, and the hobbit Pippin sang to him.

  • The number "47" features prominently on Nick's board. The number appears in many J.J. Abrams' projects, and was the floor where the bomb was located in "Ability."

gil_cdn Rethinking - "mind" as the portal to travel between parallel universe 17 Sep 4 2009, 12:50 AM EDT by gil_cdn

The conversation between Walter and Peter in their hotel room makes me rethink what we have previously perceived .....

W: The elementary truth - perception is the "key" to transformation.
P: Reality is both subjective or malleable. If you can dream a better world, you can make a better world.
W: Or perhaps travel between them.
P: What did you just say?

Maybe, the way to travel through the different universe is by thoughts, perception, via our mind ...... hummmmm ..... we need some Cortexiphan please! And some "No-Sleep" too!

What do you "think"?

What do you think

I have a shrewd suspicion that the two/more 47's aren't the only interesting things on his wall.
For instance, on the side with the 'what is written will come to pass' written on it, there are two pieces of one worded newspaper titles, one which says 'Review' and another which says 'gaunt'. Could there be more, which makes a sentence?
Also, on the other side, there are two fairly prominent strips of paper with a list of numbers on it, one of which has 201 highlighted.
There are a bunch more hidden things, I'm sure of it :)

Also, did anyone else notice the 25134 above the building Liv and Broyles enter? Interesting, maybe it could be coupled with the number strings, ie: second number, fifth number, first, third, fourth, seventh, tenth, etc...

<end random speculation>

notscrambledeggs Olivia Had Pyrokinetic Ability?! Did she start fire killed lab astnt? 16 May 8 2009, 12:59 AM EDT by fat_rabbit_kemz

In the video Walter plays at the end of the episode with little Olive cowering in the corner one can clearly see what looks like a burnt bed and burn marks around an unharmed Olive - in the tape one can hear Walter trying to comfort Olive... mentioning it wasn't her fault... she didn't mean to... - did Olivia have some pyrokinetic ability thanks to the drug Cortexiphan and was she the one responsible for the fire in the lab that killed Walter's earlier lab assistant??
