UNANSWERED QUESTIONS & PLOT DANGLERS

  • How does the Child tie in with everything? Is he somehow linked with the Observer?
  • Why was there negative energy from the Child when he was looking at the Observer?
  • Did Eliot really work for the CIA, and what did he mean we he said "we found another one" while speaking on his cell phone?
  • What is Rachel trying to tell Olivia?
  • How did the Child end up in the concealed underground chamber? Eliot says he "found" another one, meaning his people didn't put the Child there. So who did?
  • How can the Child survive in a real foster family if he is really another Observer?
  • How much does Eliot's CIA Research & Development branch know about ZFT and the invading alternate world?
  • Why did Eliot so easily accept Broyles' story at the end? And will there be any consequences for Broyles failing to live up to his "personal guarantee" they'd turn the boy over?
  • When the Fringe team first met the child in Boston Children's Hospital, Peter received a text message on his cell phone and step aside to read it. The Child has a strange look on his face. Who texted Peter? What message did Peter received?
PLOT HOLES, INCONSISTENCIES OR JUST PLAIN IMPOSSIBLE?
Add unbelievable incidents or sci-fi faux pas to this list!
  • How did Olivia's handfull of colorful M&Ms suddenly turned all yellow? (When she pour it out, there is only one or maybe two yellows in there.) The magic of TV.
  • Eliot wouldn't normally have any trouble tracking the Child to his foster home, as the doctor is following the official process.

  • How comes things moved to the OPPOSITE SIDE when Olivia leaves the room? The analogy of the Opposite Side

EPISODE'S BEST QUOTES

  • "Dr. Bishop? Any thoughts?"
"Perhaps. First I need a piece of special equipment. My turntable."
"Is that some kind of lab equipment?"
"No, no, a turntable. Record player. You enjoy music, don't you, Mr. Broyles? Well imagine the agony of having an extensive record collection and having no means to play it."
    "The agony."
"I'll have someone get right on it." - Broyles, Walter, Peter

  • "Unless you have an IQ higher than mine, I am not interested in what you think." - Walter

  • "Walter. Olivia's here, she needs to talk to you. Walter!"
"Could she come back later? I'm about to step in the bath."
"No, she can't come back later. It's the middle of the night. She needs to talk to you right now."
"Honestly, Peter, can't a man get... Agent Dunham. Peter, why didn't you tell me Agent Dunham was here?"
"I'm pretty sure I did." - Peter, Walter

  • "Oh, Peter, don't be such a prude. I'm sure Agent Dunham knows what a penis looks like. Don't you, Agent Dunham?"
"My father, ladies and gentlemen." - Walter, Peter

  • "My dear, there is much that is unexplained. Until it is."
"In short, he has no idea." - Walter, Peter

  • "Walter, the last time you used that thing, you drilled it into the guy's head."
"If you think he'll find it disagreeable... I suppose it could be modified."
"Really? You didn't think to mention that to the last guy?" - Oliivia, Walter, Peter

  • "After that, it's a simply a matter of synthesizing the impulses. Think of it as creating artificial vocal cords."
    "Simple. Like making an omelet."
"Actually, son, a good omelet is far more complex, eh?" - Walter, Peter

OMG! MOMENTS

  • The Observer watching the boy Observer riding to his foster family.

  • How the boy was found under the ground.

EPISODE TRIVIA

  • In the previous episode, Tommie's newsstand has a yellow evergreen on the awning, a clue to the Artist's identity in this episode.

  • The glyph code for the week spells out WALTER.

  • The G.I. Joe figure and Pete's believing it should look different is a clue to his true nature revealed in "There's More Than One of Everything."

gil_cdn ep.115 INNER CHILD - questions & thoughts (page: 1 2 3) 48 Aug 31 2009, 6:01 AM EDT by that_dude

I am so glad FRINGE is back, it makes TV viewing a lot, lot more interesting.

THOUGHT # 1:
The child is another observer (and they are here to help.) There are more Observers out there as the CIA (fake Social Service) guy reported over the phone that he'd found 'another one'.

THOUGHT #2:
Reading the synopsis for ep.117 Bad Dreams, looks like Olivia is soon going to develop similar abilities as the boy.

THOUGHTS # 3:
Great dialog/response from the 'lab trio' (Walter, Astrid & Peter) when they were watching Olivia bond with the child. You can actually see the three different agenda.
Peter: Maybe he doesn’t know (Peter being always the most skeptical one)
Astrid: Or can’t control the ability all the time (Astrid seems to always know something is out there)
Walter: Perhaps a small electric shock will kick start things (All Walter sees is another opportunity to run an experiment).

QUESTION #1:
If the child is really another Observer, how is it possible to have him in a normal foster home without causing any mayhem?

QUESTION #2:
What is Rachel trying to tell Olivia?

QUESTION #3:
How come colorful M&Ms in Olivia's hand suddenly turned all yellow?

Love to hear your thoughts!

gil_cdn What text message did Peter received? (page: 1 2) 26 Apr 25 2009, 10:42 AM EDT by eames

Peter received a text message at the Boston Children Hospital when they first met the Child. Who text him? What is the message? (The child seems to have a slight reaction to Peter reading the message.)

fat_rabbit_kemz I think the Young Observer is a clone.... 1 Apr 18 2009, 8:43 AM EDT by ~anne
Thread started: Apr 15 2009, 12:58 AM EDT  Watch
I think the Govt/Massive Dynamic discovered these beings from the other dimension and started cloning them. I think the Young Observer is a clone used for research and I base it on this:

1) Child was found in an underground bunker sealed off 70 years ago.
2) The bunker was NOT on the building plans - it was secret.
3) This underground bunker appears to be some kind of research facility - evidenced by the cages, barred
rooms, tables, and crates.
4) There was no other way into the facility or the Child would have made it out.

Question: Why was he left behind? What happened to the researchers and the staff who knew about the facility and sealed it off???

Were there other children with him? Or was he the only one in that facility?

Also, the "others" like him - were they also found in a facility underground - sealed off bunker used for research?

What if you have an "Island of Dr. Moroe(?)" where instead of animals being cloned and hybridized, you have human-alien hybrids.

Also - what if that drug given to Olivia - Cortexiphan - came out of this research - the drug could have been extracted from the boy -- that would explain the theory of its potential. The drug therapy used on Olivia could have come from test subjects like the Young Observer.

70 years ago = 1937 - what was going on in 1937??? Does anyone know???

Germany is tied in with this -- 1933, rise of Nazism and the 3rd Reich. But what about America - particularly 1937??
