Episode synopsis: After shifty FBI Agent Mitchel Loeb orchestrated David Robert Jones' othrwordly escape from a German prison and Olivia's alarming abduction, indications of a larger threat begin to emerge. Adding to the intense circumstances, one of Olivia's former adversaries is called in by Internal Affairs to conduct a formal review of the Fringe Division, and Olivia's sister, Rachel, pays a visit.
The timing couldn't be more inopportune, as Olivia, Peter and Walter race against time to solve the wildly grotesque murder of an esteemed epidemiologist - which may link to Olivia's own abduction - before a catastrophic epidemic is unleashed.

UNANSWERED QUESTIONS & PLOT DANGLERS

  • What did Loeb extract from Olivia using the spinal tap?

  • What did Loeb mean by saving her?

  • Who are the two sides?

  • What is the PLAN that Loeb has mentioned?

  • Why didn't Olivia ask Loeb for more detailed explanation?

  • How does Loeb's wife play into the whole "Plan"?

  • What is Broyles hiding from Olivia?
PLOT HOLES, INCONSISTENCIES OR JUST PLAIN IMPOSSIBLE?
Add unbelievable incidents or sci-fi faux pas to this list!
  • A largely mutated common cold virus that could tear your esophagus to shreds

  • Editing continuity problem: When Olivia is strapped on the table, EKG sensor missing on some shots.

  • The slug cannot be a virus because viruses are not alive. (being nothing more than a strand of RNA that "hijacks" actual cells to copy itself) As a single celled organism the slug could/should have been a bacteria to be plausable...I'd expect a sci-fi show to have someone to catch these things

EPISODE'S BEST QUOTES

  • "And bring your father. I think we'll need him."
"Do I have to?" - Olivia, Peter

  • "Why would do they that? I mean, what would they want with me? What were they doing? Who could they be?"
"You’re like a question machine." - Olivia, Walter

  • "Things like this used to happen in the lab all the time. Makes me nostalgic." - Walter

  • "At least he died teaching, A righteous profession." - Walter

  • "I was worried too, when you were taken."
    "Thank you, Walter,"
"Not as worried as him, though," - Walter, Olivia

  • "I feel like a cheese steak" - Walter

  • "Are you sure?"
"My boy, I’m not even sure that we exist on the same plane of consciousness, but yes, I believe so." - Peter, Walter

  • "The man’s insane, Olivia."
"I concur, and in the category of takes one to know one… that man did seem disturbed." - Peter, Walter

  • "Who cares about me,"
"I care about you..." - Olivia, Peter

  • "Isn't she beautiful?"
    "Who?"
    "The slug!" - Walter, Peter

    OMG! MOMENTS

    • The sheer amount of times that Walter mentions how worried Peter was while Olivia was gone

    • Peter, Olivia, and Walter's awkward silence when Peter says: "I care about you," and tries to cover it up. I can't believe I just said that is written all over his face as he continues quickly.

    • The first time we see the "cell" organism exit Kymberg's mouth!

    • Some of the best quotes and funny informtion definetly come from Walter interacting with Olivia and Peter - That had to be one of the best cast picks ever!

    EPISODE TRIVIA

    • Observer is in the tagged HARVARD UNIVERSITY establishing wide shot, walking across screen as Olivia exits her car.
