UNANSWERED QUESTIONS & PLOT DANGLERS

  • Why is Jones in prison? A: He was in possession of state secrets (whose is not clear)

  • What are the extent of experiments performed by Walter Bishop on Peter?

  • Is ZFT in cahoots with Massive Dynamic?

  • Who is "the gentleman"?

  • What's going to happen between Lucas and Olivia? What happened in the past between them, and what was their professions at the time?

  • If Jones and Loeb are allies, as revealed in later episodes, why the work-around of Loeb purposely getting sick to cause Olivia to investigate Jones to cause Jones to want to contact Joseph Smith to answer a question for Loeb? Why couldn't Loeb have asked Joseph Smith where the gentleman lived himself?
PLOT HOLES, INCONSISTENCIES OR JUST PLAIN IMPOSSIBLE?
Add unbelievable incidents or sci-fi faux pas to this list!
  • The Interpol file has the French name for Interpol on the cover. It says "Organization International" but the correct translation/spelling is "Organization Internationale."
EPISODE'S BEST QUOTES

  • Peter to Broyles in the lab when Broyles questions Peter about Walter's obsession with fruit cocktails.
Peter: "Mr. Broyles, two thirds of the time my father’s not even lucid. And in those rare and unpredictable moments of clarity, he rambles on about the food and beverages that he missed while he was incarcerated in a mental institution for the better part of the last two decades. To say that he’s not focused is to say that he’s a biped, which is to say, you’re absolutely right, he’s not focused. And it’s not going to change anytime soon. I’m his son, I’m not a puppeteer. I don’t have a remote control. There’s no master switch I can flick and turn him into the man I wish had raised me, or even somebody I don’t have to baby-sit every day.

"I guess that's been on my mind for awhile."
Broyles: *dry* Apparently"

  • Walter: "Excellent work, son. You may have found your true calling at last. Working with me!"
  • Peter: "I certainly hope not!"
  • Olivia, as Walter talks about finding maker's footprint in the genetic code of the parasite excitedly
Olivia: "I don't understand..."
Peter: "That puts you in the same group as the rest of humanity."

  • Walter: "You know, I had a fruit cocktail once in Atlantic City. Mind you, I’m not the fruit cocktail sort of guy."

  • "Excellent. Conductive gel to prevent the electrical current from setting him on fire. Spread it evenly, and don’t forget his nipples." - Walter

  • "I would tell you to snap out the hell of it. To stop whining about what can’t control, can’t change. I would tell you to get some sleep while you can because tomorrow we’ll do this all over again, and guess what, you’ll have a million answers and a million and one new questions. I would tell you those things, but I won’t, because your dissatisfaction is what makes you so damn good. Someone I’m proud to say I work with." - Broyles
OMG! MOMENTS

  • Loeb works with local agents Coscarelli and Scrimm. Don Coscarelli directed "Phantasm" (1979), which starred Angus Scrimm as the main bad guy, The Tall Man.

EPISODE TRIVIA

  • The Observer is seen at the airport in Frankfurt as Olivia arrives.

  • Blair Brown and Mark Valley don't appear.

  • Jones' background is in 'deep bio-technology, namely genetic weaponry

Fringeling 7th Episodes Clues and Questions 10 Nov 23 2008, 10:13 PM EST by jtbmomx3

I am getting hooked on Fringe, and tonights episode (sorry, I mean last nights - I just watched it tonight for the first time) was definitely the best so far (I think). Walter was brilliant! I find myself wanting to pause the darn show every five seconds to see if I'm seeing all the clues. It's driving me crazy! I hope the following questions/observations have not been mentioned already. If they have, pardon my "fine grasp of the obvious":

* Does anyone else think Walter responds to Broyles the way he does on purpose? I'm thinking his "I had a fruit cocktail once" responses to him are totally on purpose. Perhaps Broyles has the ability to read minds to a degree and Walter is aware of this and tries to confuse Broyles?

* What is the painting of in Broyles office? I can't help but to think it's a clue. It's some six-sided dome like building I cant' place. You can see it when Broyles and Olivia are talking the first time before she goes to Germany.

* Perhaps my eyes are seeing things they want to, but in the beginning of the episode there is a quick scene where those floating titles appear telling us we're now at Harvard, and they appear over a river and waterway where four people are rowing crew/skull or whatever it's called. I believe there is one person wearing red and three wearing green shirts?

* Right before Loeb falls down convulsling in Broyles office, Broyles is going over the report and comments on a "six pound" discrepancy in the load weight of the van that Loeb was investigating. Is there anything in the episodes so far that has been commented on as weighing six pounds? I can't remember how much the Beacon weighed ...

* Why did Broyles bring Loeb's wife into the lab during the "dead man" interrogation scene? This seemed like a stupid move, unless he knew that Loeb and his wife were double-dipping.

Several interesting websites bear the name "Little Hill", not least among them a cow farm in Lebanon, PA. Is it a coincidence that Walter keeps a cow in his lab?
