Episode synopsis: A young woman is dropped out of the back doors of a van and left on the dark city streets alone. She stumbles into Holly's Diner and sits at the counter obviously disoriented. A waiter takes her order, then calls a police officer and says he has a customer who might need some help. Shortly after he arrives, the other customers start screaming and bleeding from their eyes. Everyone in the diner bleeds out. The FBI team detereminesdetermines the young woman, Emily Cramer, was abducted for an unauthorized human trial to create weaponized humans because her radiation level was three times higher than anyone else's. On the day of Emily's wake, another woman, Claire Williams, is abducted. Both she and Emily had a rare disease and had joined with other patients to treat themselvedthemselves with an unapproved isotope therapy. Dr. Patel, the rhuematoid specialist treating both Emily and Clair, admits to Agent Dunham that he was sending periodic updates to David Esterbrook, the head of Intrepus, a pharmaceutical giant. In remorse, Dr. Patel commits suicide in front of Olivia Dunham before she can disarm him. Peter makes a deal with Nina Sharp of Massive Dynamics for information about Intrepus's secret lab; she will give him the location in exchange for a favor sometime in the future. Back in the lab, Walter has divined the source of the biological agent administered to Emily rfomfrom the smell of hyacinths that emanates from her remains. He also builds a Mr. Papaya head, blows it up, and asks for some blue cotton candy. With the antidote concocted by Walter in hand, Olivia is able to save Claire Williams when the FBI storms the Intrepus facility. Also in this episode, some of Olivia's backstory is revealed. An abusive and psychotic step-father sends her a card on her birthday every year to let her know he is still on the loose. She leaves the FBI office relieved to not have a card in her mail this year, only to find the envelope slipped under her door at home.

UNANSWERED QUESTIONS & PLOT DANGLERS

  • What favor will Nina Sharp ask Peter for in the future? Did he make the wrong decision giving her a "blank check"?
    • More Importantly - How Much of a "Godfather'" (Brando-vibe) did Blair Brown radiate when she fed Peter the ground rules? ~~~~
  • Nina Sharp's relationship to Walter in the past & her previous relationship with Peter as a child.

PLOT HOLES, INCONSISTENCIES OR JUST PLAIN IMPOSSIBLE?
Add unbelievable incidents or sci-fi faux pas to this list!
  • Bellini's Lymphocemia doesn't exist. (Fictitious illnesses are invented for shows & movies all the time, often to avoid inavertantlyinadvertently offending or confusing those who have a real illness)
  • A chemist that can do autopsies is just preposterous. (Unless said chemist underwent medical training before switching to Chemistry or after earning his Chemistry degree. It's not entirely uncommon for a scientist to have experience or training in multiple disciplines.)
EPISODE'S BEST QUOTES

  • "To understand what happened at the diner, we'll use Mr. Papaya. Clear. This is upsetting as he is the friendliest of fruits." - Walter

  • "Or she had a proclivity for sexual bondage. A scientific observation, not judgement. Some of my fondest memories..." - Walter

  • "Where can I get one of those white suits?" - Walter

  • "Well, I think we actually might be making some progress. A couple of minutes ago, Walter thought he might have isolated the compound that's in Emily Kramer's blood. But then he got distracted by the unicorn running through the lab." - Peter
Errors/Bloopers: Peter looks at Olivia's butt as she walks away from the hotel!
OMG! MOMENTS

  • OMG! Olivia and Peter had the PERFECT love scene in front of the hotel! But, no, the writers are post-poning their love life! >=\

EPISODE TRIVIA

  • The Observer is in the hotel lobby behind Olivia as she confronts David Esterbrook.
